2012-2013 Leadership Team

The Morehead Writing Project is proud to announce the formation of its 2012-2013 Leadership Team.

Site Director Deanna Mascle, Program Assistant Becky Davison, Summer Institute Co-Director Brandie Trent, In-Service Co-Director Jared Salyers, Outreach Co-Director Tim Reding. and Technology Coordinator Billie Jo Thornsberry will continue to serve in their leadership roles. Kathy Heaberlin, George McKee, and Laura Daniels will continue to serve at large.

The MWP LT is pleased to welcome four new members at large: Maggie Prater, Vickie Moriarity, Jodi Blackburn, and Brandis Carlson.

We are pleased with the balanced representation this group of outstanding teacher leaders brings to our Leadership Team with our university representation including Mascle, Davison, Salyers, and Reding; high school representation including Trent and Prater; middle school representation including Thornsberry and Moriarity; and elementary representation including Heaberlin and McKee (who work with students at all primary and elementary levels) and Blackburn (who teaches elementary students) and Carlson (who teaches primary students).

In addition, each of the new additions has already served in a leadership capacity for our site. Prater was an instrumental member of our NWP Literacy Collaborative team, Moriarity is currently heading up our SEED grant for a high-need school, Blackburn recently returned to the classroom after working for MSU’s 21st Century program, and Carlson was instrumental in planning our 2012 Global Graffiti Writing Camps. The current at large members are also key leaders for our site. Heaberlin served on the Leadership Team during Project Outreach and the restructuring that followed as well as working as Summer Institute Co-Director. McKee has served as Summer Institute Coordinator. Daniels has worked with Thornsberry to lead the Kentucky Writing Project Technology Academy held at MSU for the past two summers.
