2014 Summer Institute

The 2014 Morehead Writing Project Invitational Summer Institute is well underway on the campus of Morehead State University.

The ISI is led by Summer Institute Co-Director Brandie Trent of Fleming County High School and Summer Institute Coordinator Brandis Carlson of Charles Straub Elementary School in Mason County. The ISI leaders are supported by additional site leadership including Site Director Deanna Mascle of Morehead State University, In-Service Co-Director Jared Salyers of Morehead State University, and Outreach Co-Director Tim Reding of Morehead State University.

The 2014 cohort includes four Returning Fellows who lead writing groups and mentor the new fellows. The RFs include Vickie Moriarity of Bath County Middle School, Leslie Workman of Bath County High School, Lindsay Johnson of Rowan County High School, and Tiffany Elam of McBrayer Elementary in Rowan County.

Nine teachers from throughout the region were selected for fellowships after a competitive review process including a formal application, principal recommendation, and interview:

  •  Alisha Gray of Lewis County Schools
  • Michelle Martin of Rowan County Middle School
  • Lela Ratliff of West Carter Middle School
  • Sasha Reinhardt of Bath County Middle School
  • Erin Younkin of West Carter Middle School
  • Tammy Nischan of East Carter High School
  • Jennifer Kidd of Charles Straub Elementary School in Mason County
  • Stacie May of Rowan County Middle School
  • Tammy Gallenstein of Ward Elementary School in Fleming County
