The Morehead Writing Project, a local affiliate of the National Writing Project, is offering a Writing Retreat on Saturday, Aug. 16, in the Combs Building on the campus of Morehead State University.
The event scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. will cost $50 (lunch is not included). Participants will receive six hours of professional development credit.
Writing continues to be an essential skill for success in school and beyond and yet our students continue to struggle as writers. The students of National Writing Project teachers consistently outperform the students of non-NWP teachers. This is because NWP teachers work to integrate writing into every lesson and content area to develop confident writers with a set of complex experiences and tools to support their continued growth and development.
During the retreat, teachers from kindergarten through post-secondary will work together on effective literacy practices to grow writers in their classrooms which makes this ideal for supporting your Writing Program Review as well as classroom instruction.
