Kentucky Writing Project Conference Saturday, Sept. 17

The Kentucky Writing Project Conference on Schoolwide Literacy, Improving K-14 Student Achievement Through Research-Based Practices in Writing, will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University.

The Keynote Speaker for the conference will be Mitch Barrett, the Kentucky singer-songwriter. In addition to sessions led by outstanding Kentucky Writing Project teacher leaders, Kentucky Department of Education representatives will offer a special session on the changes to the Kentucky Program Review.

The conference is open to educators in all content areas from kindergarten through college with an interest in literacy education. Conference highlights include:

  • Learn strategies for improving student achievement in literacy.
  • Experience the argument/opinion writing i3 College-Ready Writing Program work of the National Writing Project.
  • Engage in writing from primary sources for US History with Zoom In! online
  • Enhance classroom literacy practices through active demonstrations

Advance registration by Sept. 12 is $100 per person or $75 per person for a school/district team. Morehead Writing Project teachers should contact MWP Site Director Deanna Mascle to be included in the Morehead WP team at a reduced rate (limited availability).
