Interested In Literacy and Technology?

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Any Morehead Writing Project teacher-consultant interested in conducting an inquiry project into literacy and technology should contact mwp@moreheadstate.edu to learn more about the Kentucky Writing Project Network’s Literacy and Technology Initiative.

The focus of the inquiry is enhancing literacy instruction through technology in any content area.

If funds allow and participation requirements are met, each participant will receive either a web cam, flip camera, and iPod to explore and then take back to the classroom to use during the project (when the inquiry is completed it becomes the property of Morehead Writing Project). Teacher participants are expected to complete all activities of a 2-day workshop, including providing a detailed plan for implementation. They will also be invited to post comments and questions on the KWP discussion board, attend a trouble-shooting session at the KWP statewide conference in September, and perhaps share their work in the Summer 2011 academies.

Applicants should have strong teaching qualifications (P-12, any content) and strong leadership abilities, as they will form the leadership team for the Summer 2010 KWP Technology Academies. MWP will provide mileage reimbursement for up to three planning sessions (most likely held in Frankfort on April 17, May 15, and June 5) for these Academies (June 15-17).

Selected TCs will receive a stipend of up to $1000 for completing the inquiry, planning, and leadership components of the Literacy and Technology Initiative.

Contact MWP before Dec. 10 if you are interested in learning more about this initiative.
