Summer Writing Camps

The Morehead Writing Project will offer several Summer Writing Camps in 2018 for young writers from primary through high school and from Lewis County to Mason County to Rowan County to Morgan County.

Please be patient as we plan our schedule. We will have firm dates and locations very soon.

2018 Summer Writing Camps:

  • Lewis County led by Alisha Gray – June 11-15
  • Mason County led by Jennifer May – May 21-25
  • Morgan County led by Kim Sparkman – June 4-8
  • Rowan County led by Dallas Cox – TBA

During the Morehead Writing Project summer writing camps, young writers from primary through high school will have the opportunity to participate in:

  • Freewriting
  • Writing workshop
  • Writing group
  • Publication

Camp activities will also include:

  • Skills lessons
  • Peer and adult support to develop finished writing
  • Using computers to draft, revise and create
  • Using technology to create and publish writing
  • Camps will be led by certified teachers with advanced National Writing Project training.

Registration fees of $80 (some scholarships will be available) include:

  • Writing camp t-shirt
  • Flash drive
  • Writing journal
  • Global publication
