Come Write Out

With NWP’s WriteOut Through Oct. 23 and with MWP on Oct. 20 for National Day on Writing

The National Writing Project and National Park Service’s 5th annual celebration of writing, making, and sharing inspired by the great outdoors, Write Out, will run through Oct. 23. This year’s collaboration welcomes the public, educators, and students to dive into the world of STEAM (STEAM=Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math). Learn more about this opportunity to combine the exploration of the world and technology through writing in community by visiting https://writeout.nwp.org.

As usual, Write Out also includes the National Council of Teachers of English National Day on Writing (Oct. 20). This is the 11th year that NCTE has designated Oct. 20 as the National Day on Writing to celebrate writing as a critical literacy.

The Morehead Writing Project will host a virtual writing marathon 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, via Zoom and we hope our entire community of writers will join us in an exploration of the world and technology through writing. Sign up for the Just Write Virtual Writing Group to receive a Zoom invitation that you can share with your family, friends, and students. The Zoom link is also available via the Write Now Teacher Studio (via The Writing Marathon Deeper Dive). Check out our invitation to write inspired by the 2022 #WriteOut sparks and we hope you will write with us this week!

We also invite you to explore our past Write Out invitations:

As you write we hope you will share either the inspiration and/or the words you create using the #writeout hashtag and we hope you will tag @moreheadwp and #NWP when you do!
