Come Write Your Way Out With Us

In preparation for what is expected to be a crazy week in a crazy year, the Morehead Writing Project has decided to host a virtual writing marathon to help our writers, and yours, write our way out of this hurricane (to borrow an image from Lin-Manuel Miranda).

The 75-minute virtual writing marathon will be held at 7 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, Nov. 5, and is open to writers from middle school and up with a connection to the National Writing Project. If you are or know a NWP teacher then consider yourself invited! Register now to join us!

We are living in the eye of a hurricane and just like Lin-Manuel Miranda we are going to write our way out. We will gather together as writers so we can write everything that we can see and share our words in a welcoming community of writers for a 75-minute respite from the craziness that is 2020. Come pick up a pen and write your way out.

Writers who participated in the #WriteAcrossAmerica virtual writing marathon this summer or the #WriteOut Kentucky virtual writing marathon this fall will recognize the format we will use for this event. We will begin together as a group to establish our expectations and share a prompt to inspire our writing then we will send you into small groups where you will write and share together. We will come back together for a few moments at the end to celebrate our shared experience.

This event is free of charge but if you are able to make a small donation to the Morehead Writing Project it will help us continue to offer programs such as #WriteOut Kentucky and this event.
