MWP awarded $20,000 teacher leadership grant

The National Writing Project recently awarded the Morehead Writing Project $20,000 of federal funds for a 2014-2016 Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) Teacher Leadership Development Grant proposal. According to NWP, the purpose of this grant is to expand and develop teacher leadership to improve the teaching of writing and learning in the nation’s schools. The goal of this funding is to provide new learning opportunities for a minimum of 20 teacher leaders in the Morehead State University service area over the course of the two-year grant.

MWP will use the funds to increase the number of Returning Fellows attending the Invitational Summer Institute for the 2014, 2015, and 2016 ISIs as well as support efforts in the Fellows home districts to create professional learning communities to support MWP/NWP goals. This program will increase site capacity as well as serve each of the schools and districts with teachers chosen as Returning Fellows.
