MWP offers Summer Writing Camp

global.graffiti.campersThe Morehead Writing Project held its annual summer writing camp the week of June 10-14 on the campus of Morehead State University. McNabb Middle School teacher Abby Thomas led the camp for the fourth straight year.

The theme for this year’s camp was Global Graffiti: Writing For Change and was attended by 19 young writers between the ages of fourth and eighth grade. The campers created blogs, commercials, and explored many forms of writing from poetry to six-word stories.

In addition, the campers were able to attend two sessions with Kentucky author George Ella Lyon during her visit to Morehead State University during the camp.

Morehead Writing Project Outreach Co-Director Tim Reding coordinated the camp and Morehead State University student volunteers Malcolm Bailey, Samantha Griffith, and Torri Gilliam.
