WAA Kentucky Stop July 19: Writing Your Way Home

The Kentucky Write Across America team invites you to Write your Way Home with us using the invitation we shared with Write Across America on July 19.

During your visit to Kentucky we will take you on a poetic journey around the Commonwealth to explore the complicated relationship between home and identity using the words of 12 Kentucky poets for inspiration. We are excited to include the very first Poet Laureate of the United States as well as the newest US Poet Laureate (selected before the announcement this week, we might add) and Kentucky’s current Poet Laureate and Kentucky’s current Teacher of the Year. Prepare to be dazzled by these stars.

Kentucky WAA Team: Deanna Mascle, Liz Prather, Megan Smedley, Seth Thatcher, Leslie Workman

This is the Morehead Writing Project’s SECOND time hosting a Write Across America stop and the THIRD time WAA has visited Kentucky with the Louisville Writing Project hosting last year. In 2020, our stop spanned our service region in Eastern Kentucky. In 2021, we traveled two hours west on I-64 to focus on Louisville. This year we are spanning the Commonwealth from Todd County to Lawrence County.

There is still time to SIGN UP to join the Write Across America virtual writing marathon.
