Do You Want To Become a Literacy Leader?

National Writing Project training is the best path to becoming a literacy leader in your school or district. For 50 years teachers have found their leadership and teaching career transformed by attending a life-changing National Writing Project Summer Institute. You can become a National Writing Project teacher leader this summer by signing up for the Morehead Writing Project’s 2024 Literacy Leadership cohort.

Morehead WP’s Train the Trainer Literacy Leadership Program is offered to a two-teacher team representing a school or district in our extended service region (roughly east of I-75). The teachers will participate in Morehead WP’s 2024 Online Summer Institute (JUNE 10 – JULY 5, 2024) and then work with a Morehead Writing Project teacher-leader to design and lead a literacy event for their students that will also serve as literacy professional development for the faculty in their school or district.

This year we have teachers from the 2023 cohort offering writing buddy programs for primary students and writing marathons for elementary students (in multiple districts). What literacy program would you like to bring to your school or district?

This is a matching grant that will require investment and support from the school or district. Are you and your school or district ready to boost comprehensive literacy, essential skills, and social and emotional learning?

MoreheadWP has funds for only 3-4 partner projects so make your best pitch. One of the teachers from each pair can have previous experience with a MoreheadWP Summer Institute. Find your teacher partner and get the support of your administration then APPLY TODAY!

Contact Morehead WP Director Deanna Mascle, Kentucky WP Director Shawn Justice, or Summer Institute Co-Director Leslie Workman for more information.
