Summer Arts Academy 2025

Calling all teen content creators! There is still time to register for the Writing & Media program of the Summer Arts Academy at Morehead State University offered June 15-20 so APPLY TODAY!

Writing & Media: Explorations in creative writing and convergent media will lead to individual multi-genre passion projects. Students who enroll in Writing and Media will have the unique opportunity to explore a variety of media to tell their story and share it with an authentic audience. Summer Arts Academy at Morehead State University

The Morehead State University Summer Arts Academy nurtures students’ development in the arts in a setting that allows interaction with expert faculty and the opportunity to work with other students who share specific interests in music, theater, and writing & media. All students will select a course of study appropriate to their medium, but all will receive the same opportunities.

The Academy consists of five full days of activities, including individual and group instruction in your chosen area (music, theater, and writing & media) and evening recreational activities.

In addition to the opportunity to explore and publish/perform their chosen artistic form, participating students will experience Morehead State campus life and meet current MSU students as well as faculty and staff. We will engage in practical skill development as well as explore career options in this area. If you know a student interested in becoming an English or Convergent Media major then encourage them to sign up for Writing & Media at the 2025 Summer Arts Academy!

Learn more about the Summer Arts Academy by reviewing Amelia Lanier’s passion project Exploring Your Passion At The Summer Arts Academy and Humans of SAA. Convergent media students Kennealy Roberts and Hallie Adams (who attended the Power Your Story journalism camp for two years) provided technical support for the production of Exploring Your Passion At The Summer Arts Academy and Humans of SAA. Special thanks to Morehead State Public Radio.

The Writing & Media focus area will be led by Morehead Writing Project teacher leaders Eric Morris and Alora Chesney.
