The Morehead Writing Project plans to publish an anthology celebrating the writers of our community including both student and adult writers (especially educators). However, this anthology will be a true writing project experience that will require the support and participation of each community of writers.
The participation process for each writing community is expected to include:
- A writing marathon (during the school day, a club day, or outside the school day as appropriate for each community);
- Community feedback to support completing and polishing a small poem, short essay, or flash fiction (genre selected by community);
- Community approval of writing included in community section as well as organization and title of that section. Each community section of the anthology should be organized into a single Google doc; and
- Organizing a $20 anthology fee for each participating writer to be paid to Morehead Writing Project upon submission of anthology section.
Morehead Writing Project will manage publication and distribution of the anthologies; provide resources and mentorship for writing marathons; feedback/workshop process; and ideas to fund the individual $20 writer participation fee. In addition, we have Morehead State University pre-service teachers eager to help with feedback and section production. Morehead Writing Project teacher leaders interested in participating should reach out to current Site Director Deanna Mascle or incoming Site Director Eric Morris as soon as possible.
