Summer 2016 PD Opportunities

The Morehead Writing Project and Kentucky Writing Project offer a number of Summer Professional Development opportunities to educators:

  • Writing Camp: Earn PD hours embedded in one or more of Global Graffiti Summer Writing Camps while observing writing workshop, student conferences, and NWP trained teachers lead students in a variety of writing activities (email d.mascle@moreheadstate.edu for more information)
  • Morehead Writing Project Online Summer Institute (graduate credit or professional development) – fully online offering the signature National Writing Project experience
  • College-Ready Writing: Supporting the development of opinion and argument writing.  The College Ready Writers Program (CRWP), the same argument writing process utilized in KWP’s Rural Schools Professional Development Initiative, has been proven to significantly impact student growth in writing AND teacher practice. These recently-released results are based on a nationwide study conducted by the National Writing Project.
  • ZOOM in Social Studies Academy: Professional development focused on teaching writing, research, and argumentation within a U.S. History classroom including access to amazing resources
  •  Writing With English Learners: Learn strategies to support English learners as well as other struggling writers and readers
  • Playwriting: Learning to write a short play and to engage students in playwriting
