Meet 2013 MWP SI Fellows

The Morehead Writing Project welcomed its 2013 new and returning fellows to campus Saturday, May 4, for an orientation session in preparation for the 2013 Invitational Summer Institute.

Summer Institute Co-Director Brandie Trent of Fleming County High School will return to lead the Summer Institute for the third year, her fourth as a Summer Institute leader. She will be supported by In-Service Co-Director Jared Salyers of Morehead State University and Returning Fellows Maggie Prater of Mason County High School and Brandis Carlson of Straub Elementary School in Mason County.

The 11 new MWP SI Fellows were selected after a rigorous application and interview process. The 2013 Fellows incude: Jessica Feltner of Powell County Middle School, Dustin Grooms of Mason County High School, Suzanne Haberek of Paul Blazer High School, Ben Hawkins of East Carter High School, Michelle Hilderbrandt of McBrayer Elementary School, Mallory Howard of Montgomery County Intermediate School, Natasha Mora of Botts Elementary School, Lori Staggs of East Carter Middle School, Melanie Thompson of Ward Elementary School, Megan Thurman, Lewis County High School, and Leslie Workman of Fleming County High School.

2012 MWP SI Fellows Megen Gearhart and Lindsay Ellis Johnson presented teaching demonstrations and led professional development discussions. Site director Deanna Mascle also led sessions during the day.
