MWP wins two federal grants

The Morehead Writing Project was recently notified it had won two federal grants through the National Writing Project this summer.

The $20,000 Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) Teacher Leadership Development Grant will support the Morehead Writing Project Summer Institute which focuses on helping K-16 teachers grow as writers, teachers, researchers, and leaders with the goal of improving the instruction of writing in Eastern Kentucky. Similar grants were awarded to 174 NWP sites.

The $20,000 Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED)  Professional Development in a High-Need School Grant will support a year-long professional development project developed in collaboration with Bath County Schools and will be led by Bath County Middle School teacher Vickie Moriarity. Similar grants were awarded to fewer than 100 eligible NWP sites.

The two SEED grants were made possible by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education which was awarded to the National Writing Project.
