The Morehead Writing Project is holding its first Summer Journalism Camp, Power Your Story, on the campus of Morehead State University June 9-15. Sponsored by a grant from the MacArthur Foundation’s Journalism and Media Program offered through the National Writing Project, the camp is offered in cooperation with WMKY Morehead Public Radio, Morehead State’s Convergent Media program, and the Trail Blazer.
Students from Campbell, Fleming, Gallatin, Jefferson, Montgomery, and Rowan counties have spent time developing a in-depth feature article on a topic of local interest as well as writing and recording stories for WMKY. Before the week is out they will also collaborate on a multimedia package for several regional news outlets and learn about podcasting.
