Spring 2014 Teen Writers Day Out

teen-writers-day-outThe Morehead Writing Project hosted its fourth Teen Writers Day Out on the campus of Morehead State University on Saturday, April 19. Teen writers from Bath, Fleming, and Rowan counties worked with Morehead Writing Project site leaders Director Deanna Mascle of Morehead State University, Brandie Trent of Fleming County High School, Leslie Workman of Bath County High School, and Lindsay Johnson of Rowan County High School. In addition, MWP Peer Writers Devon Collins, Lauren Evans, and Megan Ison, all English Education students at Morehead State University, supported the teen writers. In addition, Sabrina Brandenburg of Bath County High School and MSU student Ashley Pierzynski also participated in the event.

The focus of the day was Passion Writing. The writers began the day as a group exploring: writers, why write, supporting writing, and writing blocks. They then embarked on a writing walkabout around campus and adjacent areas. The afternoon was devoted to preparing and holding a Poetry Slam.
