KWP offers summer academy focused on English learners

The Kentucky Writing Project is offering a 2012 Summer Academy with a focus on English  learners and culturally-linguistically diverse students at four locations around the Commonwealth including NKU, U of L, UK, and WKU.

The Academies will focus on the language learning needs of ELs as they relate to KCAS standards, and on how to integrate language in content areas for all students (per the standards outlined in KCAS). KWP teachers will demonstrate projects from their own classrooms and engage participants in developing materials for use in 2012-2013.

The three-day academy will offer 18 hours of professional development credit and a $100 stipend.

Registration is $75.
