Teen Writers: Power your story

Do you know a teen content creator interested in exploring media to tell their story and publish their work? The Morehead Writing Project will once again lead one of the focus areas for the Morehead State University Summer Art Academy offered June 11 – 17, 2023.

Writing & Media: Explorations in creative writing and convergent media will lead to individual multi-genre passion projects. Students who enroll in Writing and Media will have the unique opportunity to explore a variety of media to tell their story and share it with an authentic audience.

The Morehead State University Summer Arts Academy nurtures students’ development in the arts in a setting that allows interaction with expert faculty and the opportunity to work with other students who share specific interests in music, theater, art and design, and writing & media. All students will select a course of study appropriate to their medium, but all will receive the same opportunities.

The Academy consists of six full days of activities, including individual and group instruction in your chosen area (music, theater, art and design, and writing & media). Recreational activities will include an art hop night, movie night, bowling night and performances/presentations by the Morehead State University Summer Arts Academy faculty.

APPLY TODAY to receive one of the limited $100 scholarships.

There is also an early bird discount of $25 for applying by May 20.

Convergent media students Kennealy Roberts and Hallie Adams (who attended the Power Your Story journalism camp for two years) provided technical support for the production of Exploring Your Passion At The Summer Arts Academy and Humans of SAA. The Writing & Media focus area will be led by Eric Morris of Mason County High School and Alora Chesney of Fleming County High School with support from Morehead Public Radio and Convergent Media faculty and students.
